Advice from a professional cook
Have you already started thinking about the holiday season?
We have some pointers for you as pro cooks!
- Make your dessert early. Pies and cakes are can be baked and frozen. It will last a month in your freezer and as long as you wrap tightly in plastic wrap, it won’t pick up any weird freezer smells. Bring it out of the freezer 2hours before you sit down to eat and it will be perfect!
- Mashed Potatoes. Both sweet or regular mashed potato is happy to be made 3 days in advance. When you are ready to eat it- replace your plastic wrap with tin foil tightly wrap it around your baking dish and pop it in the oven at 425F for 35 minutes.
- Stock up on your favorite drinks now! Right now in October your favorite wine, wine coolers, beers and spirits are in full stock. Buy them now before Halloween so that when the holiday season rolls up on you, you are not experiencing stressful delays or crowds in the liquor store.
- Cold Appetizers. Charcuterie boards, fruit bowls, and spreads are your make ahead besties. You can make it 3 days in advance. Take it out of the fridge an hour before your guests arrive; it will keep people out of kitchen while you are focused on everything else!
- Keeping the food warm– right after cooking all your dishes, store them in your oven at 200F and it will stay warm without cooking!
